Electronic Waste Co-ordinator

We are looking for a fixed term, part – time E-waste Co-ordinator to process the Environment Centre’s electronic waste intake from the Hawke’s Bay community.

You will need to be organised, show initiative, work autonomously and have great social skills to work with commercial customers, the community and volunteers alike. You will need to be fit enough to move large and awkwardly shaped items such as photocopiers and CRT televisions. A full drivers’ license is required.

Following established procedures for safety and separating different components of E-waste, you will organise transport to recyclers. Full training and support will be provided.

Knowledge of electrical appliances and components is an advantage as is an interest in sustainability and resource recovery.

Term: Start week of 18 June 2018 and finish 21 September 2018.

Hours of work: Minimum of 6 hours per week, Wednesday to Friday. There may be potential for this role to grow in due course.

Wage range: $17 - $19 depending on experience and capabilities.

Volunteer vacancies

We're always looking for enthusiastic people with a broad range of skills to help at the Environment Centre. Our immediate needs are for people for the following roles:

  • Waste Warriors
Assist members of the public at events such as Blast in The Park, Matariki, and the Hawke's Bay Farmers Market to place their litter in the correct bin. Education is also provided to members of the public on what waste can be composted or recycled. 

Volunteering at the Farmers Market is once every four weeks for four hours. 

Volunteering at other events depends on the nature of that particular event but is usually two to four hours.
